Skoda has revealed a new ‘Coupe’ version of its Enyaq iV electric SUV, bringing a sportier design and option of a vRS performance model for the first time.
Skoda’s Enyaq was introduced last year as the brand’s first bespoke EV, using the same underpinnings as the Volkswagen ID.3. The firm had always promised a sleeker version, and has now delivered, with the new Enyaq Coupe.
Offering a far sleeker design than the regular SUV, the Coupe’s roof drops away from the B-pillar and gives this Skoda a particularly handsome look. The rear also has a small spoiler-like lip to it, while all Coupe versions come with a tinted panoramic glass roof as standard, which Skoda says is the largest of any car in its range.
As well as letting in more light to the interior, this roof is said to be thinner than the metal, and means that – despite the sloping roofline – there is still said to be ‘plenty of headroom for the car’s occupants’. In fact, Skoda says the headroom is equivalent to that of an Octavia Estate, while the boot measures up to 570 litres.
Like the standard car, the Coupe is also available with an optional ‘Crystal Face’, comprising an illuminated grille that uses 131 LEDs.The Coupe also gets a slightly redesigned front end, while body-coloured side skirts also separate it from the standard SUV.
While the standard Enyaq is offered with a choice of battery packs, the Coupe will instead use the largest 77kWh unit, which, thanks to its sleek shape, is said to allow for an electric range of up to 339 miles. Its battery can also be charged from 10 to 80 per cent capacity in under half an hour when using the quickest public chargers.
Power outputs of 204bhp and 262bhp are available, while another important addition on the Coupe is the option of a sporty vRS model. It’s the first time that the performance nameplate has been used on a Skoda EV, and is saved for this all-wheel-drive flagship, which serves up 295bhp and 460Nm of torque, which is said to allow for a 0-60mph time of 6.3 seconds. A striking ‘Hyper Green’ colour is also available on the vRS.
Inside the Enyaq, the interior is kitted out with a range of technology, including a 13-inch touchscreen, digital dial display and an optional augmented reality head-up display. The cabin is also kitted out with a range of sustainable materials, including ecologically tanned leather and seat covers made of recycled bottles.
Skoda is yet to announce prices for the new Enyaq Coupe iV, though expect a noticeable increase on the regular SUV. First UK deliveries are expected in summer.
