Seat might have a relatively small line-up of models compared to many manufacturers, but it’s still able to offer something to suit most buyers.
From compact cars like the Ibiza to the largest Seat available – the Tarraco – all have been able to corner their market and do well as a result. Here we’re taking a look at why you should consider a Seat Tarraco, the firm's largest model.
Seven-seat practicality
While Seat had the Alhambra MPV in its range for some time as its largest car, the firm has axed that model in more recent years. But fear not as the Tarraco takes off from where that model left off, and unlike plenty of modern rivals, this Seat comes with seven seats as standard, rather than being optional.
The third row is ideal for children, and access between the rows is very easy. In five-seat mode, the Tarraco’s boot is also huge.
Generous equipment levels
Seat is well known for delivering great value for money to buyers, and though the Tarraco is its largest car, it’s still able to offer buyers a great deal, particularly when it comes to standard equipment.
Even the entry-level SE car features full LED headlights, a touchscreen with smartphone mirroring, digital dial display and adaptive cruise control too. Top-spec models even benefit from luxuries like heated front and rear seats, full leather upholstery and park assist.
Smart styling
While styling might not be the ultimate priority of a large family SUV like the Tarraco, it’s pleasing that Seat has done its part to add some further flair to this model.
Elements such as a coast-to-coast LED rear light bar give the Tarraco plenty of presence, while the sportier-looking FR versions in particular look great, coming with details such as a roof spoiler, rear twin exhaust and large 19- or 20–inch alloy wheels.
Great range of engines
While the Tarraco isn’t sold as a hybrid yet in the UK, if you’re not quite ready for an electrified model yet, this Seat has an especially broad selection of petrol and diesel engines on offer.
From relatively affordable 1.5-litre petrol units through to a 242bhp 2.0-litre petrol shared with the Volkswagen Golf GTI, the Tarraco has lots to offer. The top-spec versions are also equipped with four-wheel-drive to help out in trickier conditions.

If you’ve been used to a smaller, sportier model, having to change to a heavier and larger model when you have a family can sometimes feel like a backwards motoring step.
But with the Tarraco, Seat has still been able to offer an engaging driving experience, with this model handling remarkably well for a large SUV, and feeling engaging too. It means you can have fun with the car, should you find yourself on a good bit of road without the kids onboard.
