Jeep has showcased its first fully electric model.
The as-yet-unnamed EV, which is due to hit the roads in 2023, is part of the wider Stellantis group’s plans for electrification which will see the manufacturer switch to become fully electric by 2026.
It also plans to reduce its carbon output by 50 per cent compared with current levels by 2030. It’s part of the Stellantis ‘Dare Forward 2030’ plan, which will see Stellantis sell only electric cars from 2026 onwards. It plans for 50 per cent of its sales in America to be electric-only by the end of the decade, too.
Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said: “Dare Forward 2030 inspires us to become so much more than we’ve ever been. We are expanding our vision, breaking the limits and embracing a new mindset, one that seeks to transform all facets of mobility for the betterment of our families, communities and the societies in which we operate.
“Powered by our diversity, Stellantis leads the way the world moves by delivering innovative, clean, safe, and affordable mobility solutions. Stellantis will be the industry champion in climate change mitigation, becoming carbon net-zero by 2038, with a 50 per cent reduction by 2030.”
Tavares also said that the company will launch 100 new products between 2022 and 2030, with 75 battery-electric vehicles introduced by 2030.
This Jeep model will be launched in the first half of next year and will then be joined by another electric SUV model in 2024.
