If you value style and driving dynamics above all else, Alfa Romeo’s Giulia and Stelvio remain right at the top of their game.
Pitched against key premium models from the likes of Audi, BMW and Mercedes, they might not sell in quite such huge numbers, but it’s that greater exclusivity that is a major selling point.
While Alfa Romeo has recently introduced the important new Tonale, it’s not forgetting about its Giulia saloon and Stelvio SUV just yet and is back with a significant update for 2023. Let’s see what’s new about the two cars.
New headlights inspired by classic Alfa Romeo models
Given how stylish these two models still look, Alfa Romeo hasn’t made too many changes to the way the Giulia and Stelvio look, but the front end looks noticeably more distinctive thanks to the new ‘3+3’ lighting signature.
It’s a cue already seen on the Tonale and harks back to classic Alfa Romeo models like the SZ. The new headlights are Matrix units, too, featuring adaptive technology as well as glare-free high beam assist.
New digital instrument cluster
One of the major changes on the new Giulia and Stelvio is the addition of a new, fully digital instrument panel. Replacing the previous analogue dials, it’s a 12.3-inch TFT display and it boasts a ‘telescopic’ design harking back to dials of past Alfa Romeo models.

NFT technology introduced
Alfa Romeo was the first car firm to introduce a Non-Fungible-Token (NFT) to a vehicle, which essentially uses blockchain to store key details about the car, and which can't be modified.
It’s a very high-tech feature and can help to guarantee a vehicle’s service history, helping both the person selling the car and buying it in the future. Alfa Romeo is also introducing optional connected services to its car for the first time, allowing features such as over-the-air updates and remote access to the Giulia and Stelvio through a smartphone app.
New special edition Competizione model
To mark the introduction of the new Giulia and Tonale, Alfa Romeo is introducing a special-edition Competizione model on both cars.
Based on the Veloce trim and available with every engine, each version comes painted in a bespoke matt Moon Light Grey finish, along with red brake callipers. On the Stelvio, large 21-inch alloy wheels are also fitted.
Further equipment is included in both cars, such as a Harman/Kardon sound system, leather seats with red stitching and adaptive suspension.
The 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio are now on sale, with prices starting from £43,259 and £47,355 respectively.
