BMW iX M60 revealed as flagship electric SUV with 611bhp

High-performance EV also offers range of up to 357 miles

BMW has unveiled its most powerful electric car yet – the 611bhp iX M60 – at CES 2022 in Las Vegas.

BMW introduced its iX last year as its new electric flagship, and though it was already available with up to 516bhp, the German manufacturer is now introducing a range-topping M60 version.

Following the BMW i4 M50, it’s the second performance model to come from BMW’s sporty M division, with its electric motors producing up to 611bhp and a monstrous 1,100Nm of torque. It means this large SUV can accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Its large battery also enables a claimed electric range of 357 miles – just down on the 380 miles possible with the regular xDrive50 model.

The M60 model isn’t all about power, though, as it receives a number of tweaks to enhance the way it drives. This includes an M-tuned dual-axle air suspension, which BMW says will ‘ensure a hallmark driving experience, agility and precision’. BMW has also used a range of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) parts, such as for the roof, side and rear sections, which is said to help bring down the iX’s weight.

Its battery is also positioned low in the body, ensuring a low centre of gravity – something BMW says returns ‘outstanding cornering dynamics and handling that can be precisely controlled at all times’.

BMW has also enhanced the level of standard equipment for the M60, with extras including large 22-inch alloy wheels, soft-closing doors, Laser headlights and a ‘Parking Assistant Professional’ package. Other standard features include ventilated and massaging front seats, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and BMW’s stunning ‘Curved Display’ media system.

To make the M60 stand out from the rest of the iX range, it features blue brake callipers, as well as ‘Titanium Bronze’ accents for the badge and exterior trim. Its alloy wheels can also be painted in this shade as an option.

The new BMW iX M60 is priced from £111,905, with first deliveries expected in summer 2022.
