BMW has revised its full 8 Series range, with the main changes including a slight redesign and greater onboard connectivity.
Including Coupe, Convertible and four-door Gran Coupe versions, it’s the first major update for the 8 Series since its launch in 2018. Given the model’s elegant design, BMW hasn’t made too many changes, though the grille is revised with a double-bar style. These signature kidney grille sections also light up now, something BMW calls ‘Iconic Glow’. You can choose to turn this feature off, though.
The lower air intakes have also been redesigned, while various new alloy wheels are offered too. Sporty M850i models also now get new ‘aero’ mirrors, while four new colours are offered – Skyscraper Grey, San Remo Green, M Portimao Blue and Frozen Tanzanite Blue.
Inside, the revised 8 Series gains a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen system, while the digital instrument cluster of the same size remains too. A large head-up display and BMW’s ‘Intelligent Personal Assistant’ voice control system are also included, along with an enhanced Harmon Kardon sound system.
BMW has removed the 840d diesel engine from the UK ‘based on changing customer demand’, with buyers now having the choice of a rear-wheel-drive 329bhp 3.0-litre petrol (badged 840i) and a powerful all-wheel-drive 523bhp 4.4-litre V8 (the M850i xDrive).
Each engine is available in Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe guises, with prices starting from £74,725, £72,225 and £81,725 respectively. First customer deliveries are expected in the Spring.
